lyrics
revolution is not everything;
it is the means to an end
a vulgar temporary
path to fair society,
it is required and merciless
but prone under permanence
to evade the rule of crowd
in this light, i see that now
in visions swallowed whole
in scuffles for control
there is no compromise,
forget the common goal
(and truer villains then arise
to use the void to tyrannise)
in hopeless, failing health
i see them turn on themselves
she pushed the window in my room
and let a breeze come passing through
i lay in bed, enthralled;
the grass beneath the wall
reflected light in all its tongues
an empty sky gave out like song
in every waking heart
to ask for this: i regret not
with every trembling step
the clammer ceases, i pray yet
As usual, Kirby manipulates various interwar records to fit a cavalcade of emotional states: blissful (B1, E8), tragic (D2, D5), frantic (E1, E6), and just plain horrifying (F3, G1, H1, K1). gjoe52
The great underlying instrumentation paired with Florence's droll stream of consciousness lyrics make this album stand out. It feels so personal and confessional. Favorite tracks are Strong Feelings and Leafy. I've heard Scratchard Lanyard on alt radio and love that one as well. tofupotpie

I don't hear a lot of this kind of music, gives me ,loose Sonic Youth vibes. Everything about it is cool, like too cool for school cool. I want to skip class and spray paint an alley with these people. Kyle Zarnoch
